Abstract

Recently, free OSs have matured into a real alternative to

commercial OSs, like Windows 95/98 or NT.
Free availability, very active development and (fast) support
by various contributors through the Internet make up the
attractiveness of these OSs.

In this talk we will present NetBSD, a descendant from the
4.4BSD-Lite system of Berkeley. NetBSD gained some attention
by its focus on portability and interoperability, while
being open for contributions from the outside.

The talk gives a quick tour through some of
NetBSDs features; some of which can not be found in
comparable OSs (including Linux, Windows 95/98/NT).
