Abstract
Shape from Shading means the recovery of three-dimensional shape from a
single greyscale image.
The classic approach of Horn and Brooks aims at the recovery of the
shape through the gradient. This introduces computational difficulties
leading to poor reconstructions. In this talk, three new algorithms will
be presented avoiding this detour via the gradient. Additional
enhancements utilising image information and depth information lead to
further significantly improved results.
