Abstract
The hydrophobic contribution to the potential driving molecular
motion is described as a weighted sum of the solvent exposed
surface area of the molecule. We give a geometric formula for
the derivative of that contribution, which is based on dual
complexes and short inclusion-exclusion formulas.
