Abstract

Evolution of web is a term which is recently heard much about in different areas, such that one can consider World Wide
Web being as constant evolutionary change. This evolution  happens in many different facets of web and involves a
variety of stakeholders, such as infrastructure developers, Web designers, technologists, and users. All these multiple
stakeholders agree on the heterogeneity of the web, along with the nature of the content and the underlying technology,
as a key factor giving all this capabilities to Web. Along with the growing focus on Web evolution, its Visualization
has also emerged as an active area of research to provide techniques that enhance the understanding of relationships
among Web content, topology, and usage through time. One purpose of such techniques is to help users in finding content,
keeping track of it, making sense of it, and understanding its timeliness. The techniques should also help authors,
sponsors, and site administrators understand how content is being used and the effectiveness of their designs. However,
there is still a need for further research for visualization tools that provide meaningful presentation of changes that
occur in a web page in crawling from one form to another. In this thesis we focus on change patterns of 9 website with
150 crawls, with the goal of understanding which parts are changing from one crawl to another as well as finding the
type of the change. During this study, we will also examine the application of two visualization methods, namely
force-Directed and Radial View, for our purpose, with emphasis on minimizing the Navigational menus into well-structured
tree that will be later used as core for the graph describing the evolution of a web page.
