Title: Distance Education: problems, ideas and experiences
Abstract:
Modern information and communications technologies are transforming the way
people learn. E-learning provides new possibilities for personalized learning
at home or in the workplace, reduces the need for costly classroom training,
and enables an optimal balance between traditional and innovative forms of
knowledge transfer. This presentation introduces a new, powerful multimedia
teaching content creating system, tele-TASK Teleteaching Anywhere Solution Kit,
which is developed and tested for distant education at University of Trier.
First, modern distant education and existing problem are reviewed and some new
feathers of tele-TASK are described. Next system structure and technical
details are introduced. Supports for the users with low bandwidth connection
(Modem/ISDN) are also discussed. Finally, some ideas about multimedia teaching
content indexing and retrieval are included.
