Title:Truly Continuous Mobile Sensing for Behaviour Modelling
Speaker:Cecilia Mascolo
coming from:University of Cambridge
Speakers Bio:Cecilia Mascolo is Full Professor of Mobile Systems in the Computer Laboratory, University of Cambridge, UK. Prior joining Cambridge in 2008, she has been a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at University College London. She holds a PhD from the University of Bologna. Her research interests are in human mobility modelling, mobile and sensor systems and networking and spatio-temporal data analysis. She has published in a number of top tier conferences and journals in the area and her investigator experience spans more than twenty projects funded by Research Councils and industry. She has served as organizing and programme committee member of over fifty mobile, sensor systems and networking conferences and workshops. She sits on the editorial boards of IEEE Pervasive Computing, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing and ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks. More details at www.cl.cam.ac.uk/users/cm542

Abstract
In this talk I will introduce first  my general research interests which span from mobility modelling and geo-social network analysis to mobile sensing and mobile systems. I will then describe our work in the area of understanding patterns of mobility through sensing using microphone, accelerometer and gyroscope, primarily. I will then describe techniques which help make this energy efficient to achieve continuous sensing on smartphones and wearables. Examples will be drawn from our studies in mental health monitoring, vehicular mobility monitoring and organization analytics.
