Abstract

All light sensors such as the human eye or digital cameras
have restricted resolving capabilities for light properties
such as intensity range and contrast, spatial resolution,
color sensitivity as well as depth-of-focus. My research
focuses on computational light modulation techniques that
permit a wider range of information to be encoded into what
a specific sensor system is actually able to resolve.
Furthermore, I am investigating how these modulation
techniques can improve conventional displays as well. My
long-term goal is to design and implement novel approaches
that push the boundaries of conventional light capture
and display technology.
