Abstract

Have you ever been betrayed by your favourite programming language(C, C++ or Java)? Or have you ever wanted to implement your algorithm on a computer but were left daunted by the prospect of having to spend hours and hours debugging code for memory leaks and segmentation faults? Do you want your code to access to the latest innovations in tech without having to deal with various build problems?
Python - an algorithm oriented language provides solution to many of our problems by providing rapid development using textbook like syntax for quick experimentation. Platform independence, seamless and dynamic memory managment, extensive set of standard libraries and reduced development time makes it an ideal programming language for research purposes.
The objective of this talk is to introduce Python as rapid prototype/implementation language for algorithms. We will focus on the issues that we face in our ''day to day'' research and how Python can be used to address them.
A joke goes like ''turning pseudocode into correct Python code is a matter of correct indentation''.
