Abstract

On Radiophysics department of Tomsk State University real time scan system for detecting forbidden objects hidden under clothes is being developed. That system consist of three main parts: Broadband microwave and Ultrasonic scanning system, Image reconstruction block, data Representation block.

Reconstruction algorithm implemented in a software makes Image reconstruction block a "bottle-neck" for all system. Thanks to the "bottle-neck" the system loses its real time property. That is why it has been decided to implement convolution wich is an essential part of reconstruction algorithm in a hardware.
This work is to real time convolution computation using Fermat Number Transform (FNT). FNT-based algorithms implemented in FPGA. The device has PCIe interface and computes one dimensional 512-points convolution or two dimensional 32x32 points convolution. The performance of the convolver is 150 000 convolutions per second.
