Dean Jacobs received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell University in 1985. He has served on the faculty of the Computer Science Department at the University of Southern California. In the industrial setting, he has been an Architect at WebLogic/BEA Systems and at Salesforce.com.

Abstract
A new generation of Internet Services, designed for both consumers and the enterprise, is rising from the ashes of the Dot Com meltdown. This talk discusses current trends in the functionality and implementation of these services. Multi-tenant databases are discussed in some detail.
