Abstract

Epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation and histone modifications regulate
gene expression by modulating DNA accessibility. Recent technologies enable
genome-wide epigenetic measurements which present a computational challenge in
Bioinformatics. In cancer research, epigenetics opens up novel approaches for
early diagnosis and treatment.

This talk will give an overview on the questions arising from the observed
epigenetic variations and will present the pipeline from experimental procedures
to cancer therapy. One common method for methylation prediction will be
introduced and assessed.
