Abstract

Indirect illumination is a subtle, yet important aspect for realistic

rendering. Due to its global nature the computation of indirect
illumination is notoriously slow. On the other hand, approximations for
indirect light are usually satisfactory. Reflective Shadow Maps are an
efficient means to add one-bounce indirect illumination of diffuse
surfaces to dynamic scenes. Recent improvements provide an extension for
non-diffuse surfaces and caustics and achieve real-time rendering speed.
