Abstract
The efficient use of subdivision in CAD applications requires the knowledge of
the effect the displacement of a single point has on the surface, or
equivalently, the knowledge of the support of the basis functions. We work on
a method to calculate the support from the non-zero points
of the first iteration of the subdivision process and the scale ratio r. If
r=2 the support is a polygon we can easily calculate. For other values of r
the support can be fractal. In that case we find polygonal upper and lower
bounds.
