Abstract

Vinton G. Cerf (Turing Award 2004)
(
http://www.google.com/intl/en/corporate/execs.html#vint)
is Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist for Google. In this
talk, Vinton G. Cerf will try to cover the current status of the
Internet, some of the technology changes that are driving its evolution
and some of the policy issues that have to be dealt with. These include
IPv6, mobility, increasing capacity in the core and the edges, broadband
alternatives, competition, security, authentication, among many others.

A number of new applications relevant to business and research will be
suggested. Then we will turn to the device-driven Internet that includes
sensor networks, control systems, Internet-enabled appliances and so on.

Finally, a report will be given on the status of the interplanetary
extension of the Internet now underway at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory
in Pasadena, California.

*Attendance is free, but registration until March 6th is necessary
because after the talk registered persons will be invited to a "get
together". You can register on-line by filling out the register form at
