This master's seminar tells about an automatic approach for ultrasound measurement interpretation using column generation. It is a multidisciplinary work mixing ultrasound non-destructive testing and linear optimization, and is based on the author's bachelor thesis. In ultrasound testing, echoes are obtained, processed and inspected by experts to give indications on a specimen's flawlessness. An automatic approach is proposed to evaluate those echoes and provides a step towards automatic inspections. A linear program is used to grade reflective surfaces by their simulation similarity to the reference echoes. Furthermore, column generation is used to generate reflectors on demand as the number of possible reflectors is huge compared to the few expected reflectors in the material. New reflectors are generated using geometrical insight. First results and the outlook for the master's thesis are presented at the end.
