Nigel Smart is one of the world's leading cryptographers. He
has conducted research into many areas spanning elliptic curves to protocol
analysis. He has published three textbooks and over 100 research papers in
the field of cryptography. He is Vice-President of the IACR, an ex-holder
of a Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award and a current holder of an ERC
Advanced Grant. In recent years, his research has focused on turning the
problem of computed-on encrypted data into a reality. This resulted in
2013, with the formation of the company Dyadic Security with Yehuda Lindell.
In the last couple of years amazing advances have been made on
techniques to perform computation on encrypted data. Some of the techniques
are even becoming practical. In this talk I will show a novel technique
which utilizes techniques used in Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) schemes
to provide efficiency improvements in Multi-Party Computation (MPC) protocols.
No prior knowledge of FHE or MPC will be assumed.
