fair surface modeling, interactive free-form shape deformations,
and skeleton-based shape deformations.
1. Surface fairing, generating nice-looking surface satisfying
aesthetic requirements, is achieved via minimizing the elastic
bending energy.
2. A fast and simple point-based method for free-form shape
deformations is developed. It can be applied to shapes given
as clouds of points.
3. A method for global shape deformation is proposed.
First, a Voronoi-based skeleton is extracted. Then the skeleton
is deformed by the point-based method. Finally the shape is
updated according to the modified skeleton.
Java3D implementations of the above methods will be demonstrated.
