Abstract
Goppa Codes are linear Codes construct from algebraic curves over
finite fields. In the talk I will explain the basic mathematics
behind Goppa Codes, and explain the difficulty in finding good Goppa
Codes. I will conclude with an outline of a research proposal about the
constructing good Goppa Codes.
