The PhD-Network of the Max-Planck Society together with the International Max-Planck Research School for Computer Science, Saarbrücken (IMPRS) invites PhD students of the Max-Planck-Society to participate in a two-day workshop on the improvement of scientific presentation techniques.
Venue: Max-Planck-Institute for Computer Science, Saarbrücken
General Outline: The objective of the seminar is the improvement of the participants' presentation skills at scientific conferences and at similar occasions. The participants will be assigned to groups of at most 20 students where they work together with experienced lecturers.
Participants are expected to prepare a 5 minute talk about a topic of their choice (can be own work) which can be presented at the beginning of the workshop. The talks should be delivered without presentation aids. The talks will then be analyzed using video-recording equipment and revised during the workshop.
Application: Simply apply by email to #email not disclosed# until October 15th, 2004. Please indicate whether you prefer being taught in English or German. The number of places is limited and will be given on a first come first served basis. However, we may try to maximize the number of participating institutes.
Registration Fee & Accomodation: There will be no registration fee or other costs charged for the participation in the workshop. However, we cannot offer accomodation.
