Abstract

We outline data structures and algorithms for a client/server system

for the visualization of time-varying volume data of one or several
variables as they occur in scientific and engineering applications.
We partition the data dimensions on the client side into a 3D viewer
for iso-surfaces and a 2D control plane where each point selects a
particular iso-surface in 3D. We describe geometric data structures
based on an unstructured mesh of 4-simplices on the server side to
support remote storage and real-time interaction with the data. We
report on experiments for constructing the data structure and an
initial prototype for the user interaction on the client.
