makes it suitable for games. This is a welcome development: Realism in
games is not bound by performance anymore but rather by algorithms that
mimic the same global effects that come naturally with ray tracing, an
algorithm that still benefits fully from Moore's law.
This talk explores how graphics are used in games, how game developers
deal with common limitations of rendering algorithms, and how this could
be applied to ray tracing in a similar manner to make this algorithm
applicable to games even sooner. The Arauna real-time ray tracer is
presented as an example of game-oriented ray tracer development.
