Abstract

Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) allows to determine the direction and

strength of the hydrogen diffusion within the brain. Thereby, the
direction of the diffusion is strongly related to the direction of the
neuronal pathways, which are packed to tract systems connecting
functional centers within the brain. It is possible to use this
information to compute streamlines that provide a good visual
impression of the location of major white matter tracts.
However, if all streamlines of a whole brain tracking are displayed at
the same time, it is very difficult to distinguish between different
tract systems. To achive results which are easier to interpret
streamlines corresponding to the same tract have to be
clustered. Finally, the perception of the anatomical structures is
further improved by wrapping hull surfaces around the streamlines for
each cluster.
