Abstract
Conventional rounding functions consider a fixed rounding position and depend
only on the rounding mode and the input operand. For variable position
rounding, the rounding position is an additional input. In this talk we
present a hardware implementation for variable position rounding in
4 different rounding modes. We then discuss how this can be applied to
special floating-point operations, like the addition and the multiplication.
