All necessary steps to embed this technology into the already existing equipment of the virtual studio at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf are described. To evaluate this technology in a mixed reality context, an off-line test production is made. The results are presented and discussed focusing on live productions, where changes in lighting or camera parameters have to be processed immediately.
No additional lighting setup in the virtual domain or animation by hand is necessary because all virtual lights and shadows are matched with the real illumination automatically. This eases the workflow for virtual studio productions, which means less costs and more flexibility.
