New for: D4
years. In particular, major advances were made in the area of
interactive ray tracing. In the same time, graphics hardware has evolved
from a fixed function pipeline to freely programmable GPUs.
Implementations of ray tracing running entirely on a graphics card have
become possible. This talk presents a ray tracing system that even
performs kd-tree traversal on the GPU. The focus of the presentation is
on the differences and problems that result from the limitations of
current graphics hardware. An intelligent adaptive sampling algorithm
and some new ideas for memory layout of kd-trees are also presented
briefly.
