Abstract

Time plays an important role in our modern lives. Having accurate time means having clocks synchronized to other clocks with as little time difference between them.

We will look into the properties of noise in time keeping and measurement, introducing a variant of the Fourier Transform for power limited signals.
We will then continue to noise propagation in electronics and the degradation of signal-to-noise ratio due to non-linearities. And finally we will look into the effect of metastabil-ity in distributed clock synchronization systems.
