Abstract
I will discuss gender bias in NLP models, especially in Neural Machine Translation. The talk will discuss methods for intrinsic and extrinsic evaluation of gender bias and some commonly used debiasing techniques, especially for NMT. The talk will also elaborate on the need for gender debiasing in NMT models used for low-resource languages. I will also talk about my own work on "Gender Bias Evaluation and Mitigation in Hindi-English Neural Machine Translation," which I am doing as part of my bachelor's thesis.
