Here we present a platform for the functional annotation of proteomes. Various bioinformatics tools are used to achieve a comprehensive description of protein sequences and to link these results to standard descriptors for molecular function, biological processes and cellular components. The annotations are collected in a relational database. Access to the annotation is provided via web-interfaces and data-base queries. These interfaces allow proteome wide questions as well as investigation of the details of individual results. In the current version, the annotation process is applied to the proteomes of Human, C.elegans, Mouse, and Arabidopsis thaliana.
