Abstract

Gene set analysis has revolutionized the interpretation of high-throughput transcriptomic data. In the last ten years a variety of tools with different statistical approaches and sources of a-priori biological knowledge have been created. Additionally, researchers from other domains such as proteomics or epigenomics have developed similar tools based on the same basic statistical principles. This makes it hard for users to choose an appropriate method to analyse their data. What makes this decision even more complex is that in modern comprehensive studies multiple -omics from the same patient can be measured. This leads to the conclusion that integrative and standardized high-throughput data analysis is required.
In my talk I will present GeneTrail2 a new tool that supports the analysis of all major -omics (genes, transcripts, proteins, miRNAs) and the direct comparison between them. GeneTrail2 offers a broad variety of statistical tests as well as a substantial amount of a-priori knowledge extracted from many databases, it is well equipped for the integrative analysis of comprehensive -omics data sets.
