Abstract

The aim of the SimStadt project is to develop an urban simulation system
for a variety of energy analyses for city districts, whole cities or
regions based on 3D city models. From heating demand diagnosis, through
photovoltaic potential, to the simulation of building refurbishment and
renewables energy supply scenarios, this urban simulation environment
aims at assisting the urban planners and city managers for the
definition and coordination of a low-carbon energy strategies for their
city. One focus of the project is the usage of 3D city models as inputs
for simulation as well as visualization and communication support. For
this purpose a CityGML Energy ADE is under development. In addition, the
current work on the OGC 3D portrayal standard for web-based
visualization will be discussed. One critical aspect from data point of
view is data quality management for 3D city models, both validation and
automatic repair. Here, we made good progress with the development of
the CItyDoctor tool
