and gait. In last years hundreds of patients suffering from
loss of neural vestibular tissue were helped with vestibular
sensor substitution devices. Surprisingly, balancing benefits
can be retained for days or even weeks after removing the device.
In this talk we offer an explanation for this surprising aftereffect.
More precisely, we show that some fundamental and widely accepted
concepts of neuronal behavior - that we will introduce in the talk -
are sufficient to explain these effects.
