high-level control system for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV),
or in other words, "an intelligent robot that flies". The problem
is an interdisciplinary one, involving computer vision,
control engineering and simulation as well as several branches of
artificial intelligence. The project started in 1997 and the
major concluding system demonstration is due before the end of
2003. In the talk I will give an overview of this project,
including in particular the system architecture, present
capabilities, future plans, and associated basic research
activities.
