Abstract

A software prototype is an incomplete implementation of a complex

algorithm typically created in a short timeframe. A common approach
to software prototyping is to synthesize the algorithm from a number
of already existing black boxes by means of a scripting language or a
graphical user interface. Motivated by industrial applications, software
prototyping by composing C/C++ libraries is of a particular practical
interest. In the last decade prototyping tasks in scientific computing
include symbolic components as a part of the problem statement. The
talk discusses requirements on a mixed symbolic software rapid
prototyping environment and presents their realization in a research
C/C++ software rapid prototyping project called ContRap. The presentation
is accompanied by practical examples from the area of mathematical
image processing.
